...About HIKA...

Henshou Isshinryu Karate Academy (HIKA) was established in December 1997 by Renshi K Raveendran and Mr A Nanthakumar with the blessing of Shihan Hussaini of All India Isshinryu Karate Association. The first day training was for adults conducted by Renshi Raveendran on 19.12.1997 at 176 Kempton Road in East London . The class was named Tacoma Dojo. Mr Nanthakumar looked after the administration side of the class to make more time available for Renshi Raveenran to concentrate on teaching. As the adults class grew up, people in different age group also requested HIKA to start classes for them. As a result of it, classes for children from age 5 years and ladies were started. Then these classes were expanded in areas such as Lewisham in South East London and Tooting in South West London namely Tatsou Dojo and Mejinkan Dojo. Then ladies exercise classes were started on request of parents. The first ladies exercise class was started in East London and later started in Lewisham. At present HIKA has classes conducted in four different locations with its own dedicated administration unit. The first batch of black belts were awarded to Sensei Muthusamy Ramathas and Sensei Thanabalasingham Rajeevan on 30 th June 2003 . Then second batch of black belts were awarded to Senseis Gunapalan Rajcholan, Sothilngam Jeyatharan and Sothilingam Janarthan in October 2004.
